Professor Nona Gelitashvili Participated in the Erasmus+ International Staff Week 2026 in Lithuania
From 15 to 19 June 2026, Professor Nona Gelitashvili, Head of the International Relations Office at Tbilisi Humanitarian University (THU), participated in the 14th Erasmus+ International Staff Week 2026, organised by the International Office of THU's partner institution, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The event brought together representatives of partner universities from Erasmus+ KA131 and KA171 International Credit Mobility programmes from across Europe and other regions of the world. This year's International Staff Week welcomed participants from more than twenty universities, including institutions from Croatia, Kenya, Poland, France, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Malaysia, Türkiye, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, and several other countries.
The main objective of the event was to expand and strengthen international cooperation among Erasmus+ partner universities, facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience, and good practices, and promote the development of new academic and institutional partnerships.
Prior to the physical mobility, participants attended a virtual introductory meeting, during which they presented their universities, areas of responsibility, and priorities for international cooperation. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity for participants to become acquainted before the start of the Staff Week.
The official programme included a wide range of meetings, presentations, and discussions. On the first day, participants were introduced to Mykolas Romeris University, its activities, and the programme of the Staff Week. During the following days, meetings were held with representatives of the International Office, the Research and Innovation Centre, the Academic Affairs Centre, the Community Well-being Unit, and other administrative departments, who shared their experience, current challenges, and successful institutional practices. Participants also met with administrative and academic staff from the University's faculties to discuss approaches to study administration, international cooperation, and student-centred higher education.
Throughout the week, participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss international mobility, joint educational programmes, research collaboration, and future cooperation opportunities within the Erasmus+ Programme. The event provided an excellent platform for establishing new professional contacts and strengthening institutional partnerships.
Alongside the academic programme, the organisers offered a cultural and educational programme, including visits to the historical and cultural landmarks of Vilnius and a one-day excursion to the resort town of Druskininkai.
For Tbilisi Humanitarian University, participation in international events of this kind represents an important opportunity to strengthen international cooperation, exchange institutional experience, and develop new partnerships with higher education institutions around the world.
